I played professional football for a decade, and throughout that time I faced recurring injuries, multiple surgeries, a collapsed lung and even a stem cell procedure. Those experiences taught me the importance of the “extra one percents” in recovery and performance. Physios recommended collagen, but it became clear the market wasn’t inclusive, and there was no clean, plant-based alternative. At the same time, my girlfriend and co-founder, Jess, became increasingly conscious of what she was putting in her body. She questioned the ingredients behind the labels and found that transparency was often missing in the supplement industry. That’s when we decided to build something better. We created One Percent Supplements to deliver clean, science-backed formulations that are accessible to everyone. From elite athletes to people living active lifestyles. No fillers, no unnecessary extras, just high-quality ingredients with transparency at our core. What started as an idea became a two-year process of research, more than ten rounds of sampling, and working with leading scientists, nutritionists and suppliers to bring our first product to life. We currently have our flagship product available, which is the world's first type II plant-based collagen aimed to support joint, bone and cartilage health. As well as overall recovery and performance. One Percent is more than a supplement brand, it’s a philosophy built on small, disciplined actions performed consistently over time.
I spent a decade as a professional athlete, so I know first-hand the importance of only taking supplements you can trust. My coaches always made me check for the Informed Sport Certification logo on every product I used, so I’ve been familiar with the certification for a long time.
The experience with Informed Sport was great from start to finish. The team was really supportive and made the process clear and easy to follow. I felt well informed at every stage, from understanding how the testing works to what’s required to achieve certification. I faced no challenges and had a smooth process throughout. I could also tell the team was genuinely passionate about helping brands maintain the highest standards of safety and trust, which aligns perfectly with what we stand for at One Percent.
Athletes dedicate their lives to training and performance, so the last thing anyone wants is to fail a drug test because of a contaminated supplement and see years of hard work go to waste. With One Percent being created for athletes and active individuals, ensuring that trust was non-negotiable. Choosing Informed Sport means our products are tested to the highest standard, giving athletes complete confidence that what they’re taking is clean, safe, and exactly what it says it is.
Our main objective has always been transparency and trust. Creating products that people can take with complete confidence, knowing exactly what’s in them and why. Having the Informed Sport certification reinforces that commitment. It not only builds trust with our customers but also opens doors for future partnerships with sports teams, athletes, and performance-driven brands who prioritise clean, tested supplements. When teams and organisations see that certification, they know our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. It strengthens credibility and helps us continue to build long-term relationships within both the athletic and active lifestyle communities.
Since completing the certification process, professional athletes have definitely been more inclined to buy our product.
We’re communicating our Informed Sport certification clearly across our website and social media accounts. Transparency is one of our core values, so we want our customers and partners to see that our products have been fully tested and certified to the highest standard.
I’d recommend starting communication with the Informed Sport team as early as possible. The testing process is very thorough, which is exactly what makes the certification so credible. This does mean it can take time to complete, though, so by getting the process started early, you can plan your timelines more effectively and ensure everything runs smoothly. The team is great to work with, and they guide you through each stage, but being proactive definitely helps speed things up.
